Mgr. Barbora Růžičková (Lyčková)
I'm a translator working between English and Czech who enjoys
creative translation. I was brought up in a bilingual environment
and spent most of my childhood abroad – I've lived in Denmark,
Sweden and Scotland. Today, I’m based in Prague, Czech Republic. I
earned a master's degree in translation at Masaryk University in
Brno.
I have over a decade of translation experience. Over the course of
my career, I've translated several books, ranging from non-fiction
and children's lit to acclaimed literary work, was selected for a
literary residency in the United States, and translated a
contemporary Czech audio drama that was later produced by the
NYC-based Play for Voices project. I've also translated hundreds of
pages of non-literary texts.
I enjoy creative translation. However, I also find it important to
forge long-standing work relationships, and my clients' satisfaction
has always been a top priority for me.
